Wolves!

Author Robyn Hood Black, proud aunt of Paideia students, wowed us on Friday by telling us about her newest book, Wolves. Jam-packed with information, this nonfiction work required an author, an illustrator, a paper engineer, a wolf expert, a fact checker and many others located all over the world. Robyn talked about immersing herself in the world of wolves for her research and shared photos of herself with two cubs whom she has known since they were born. Her story about how they attacked and fought over the actual book when she showed it to them evoked gasps and laughter. In addition, she noted that there are disagreements in the scientific community about wolf information, and she had to sift, evaluate and decide on the most accepted theories before publishing the book. I have seen children become fascinated with wolves in the library for years and am continually on the lookout for new nonfiction and fiction titles. Robyn's book has been a huge hit here at Paideia and students were awestruck to meet a celebrity. Check out her website!
