Decatur Book Festival

How did we ever get so lucky! The 2009 AJC Decatur Book Festival is coming our way on Labor Day weekend. The array of authors is mind boggling: some of the biggest stars of children's literature will be there, including

Kate di Camillo, author of many favorites, including Because of Winn Dixie and the Mercy Watson series



E.B. Lewis, illustrator extraordinaire, with the beloved titles Down the Road, The Other Side and This Little Light of Mine


Judy Schachner, author of the wildly popular Skippyjon Jones series featuring a wild and crazy Siamese kitten:



and my hero Jon Scieszka, who is dedicating his life to getting kids to read by getting them to laugh. He serves, by appointment of the Library of Congress, as our first Children's Literature Laureate. Did they know they were choosing someone so subversive? Author of many masterpieces, including the incomparable satire The Stinky Cheese Man, The True Story of the 3 Pigs as Told to A. Wolf, The Time Warp Trio Series, The Frog Prince Continued and his recent hilarious autobiography, Knucklehead.
