My children used to "read" before they could read; like lots of kids, they had memorized a favorite story. One of Justin's favorites was The Poky Little Puppy. Not fine literature but for some reason it resonated deeply with him, maybe cause it ended with him "feeling very sorry for himself."
Now watch this! A fabulous parent has been reading aloud, with high expression, to these little girls. Having the CD of the book, by locals Eric Litwin and James Dean, doesn't hurt either. Thanks to my colleague Lina Wessels for telling me about it!
