First Day of School

We're back! And so are the books! What a mess! This year I have a library assistant, Lauren Jonker (Paideia '95). Maybe we can tackle the piles a little faster together.

Here's my back-to-school display, with book covers featuring chickens and cows:

A few entries from the summer reading postcards mailbox:

Oliver, age 3: Mouse Was Mad by Linda Urban. "My brain liked it a lot. Not the first part, but the end. Because he was happy."

Joanna, age 4: Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems. "He's like, 'Heeey!' and 'LET ME DRIVE THE BUS!' It was silly. He went a little coo-coo."

Ben, age 5: The Pink Refrigerator by Tim Egan." I loved it! I liked when the note started changing. I loved when he did his art and when he's never seen the ocean, but it worked out pretty well. It was funny when he said, 'Now you're nothing but an old piece of junk.'"

Gillis, age 11: The Boys' Book of Survival by Guy Campbell. "I liked this book because it was 99% nonfiction. I like knowing how to get out of tricky situations. Some of these could save my life someday."

Miles, age 11: Tuskegee Airmen by M. Homan and Thomas Riley. "Me being an African-American, this really helped me learn about my heritage. I knew some about the Airmen, but after this book I feel like have been filled with knowledge."

Vlada, age 12: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket. "I liked this book a lot because there were these children that kept receiving terrible news, and they had to find a way to fix the problem."
